Preparing for your salon appointment

I’m here to tell you today how best to prepare yourself for your visit to the hair salon-

Assuming this is your first trip to a new salon, ask yourself these questions-

What are you hoping to achieve with your hair long term?

what is your hair colour and product history?

what is your maintenance expectation?

what is your budget?

Answering these questions before your trip to the salon can help your new stylist to get an understanding of where you want to go, and how long it will take to get you there.

Be realistic about your hair goals.

Be honest with your stylist about your hair history. She wants to know about previous colours and products used for a good reason. If you have been using supermarket shampoo full of silicones tell her, and let her educate you on the best products to maintain your new colour.

By giving your stylist the correct information she can adjust the formulas to work their best on your hair. If you lie about previous colours and products it will only reduce your results.

Be mindful of your budget. If you want to be platinum blonde be ready for the large price tag, but also the cost of maintaining it each month.

With trips to the salon and shampoo and conditioner, there is no point spending $250 on your colour and buying $3 shampoo from wollies.

Ask the stylist what she recommends. We are trained to know what colours and styles will suit individuals, we love to be creative and have a new client to work with. Ask her advice and see what she says. You don’t have to do the exact colour or style, and she wont be offended if you don’t go with her recommendation. You might  be surprised with what she come up with.

If your going to a new salon you want to be welcomed with open arms. You want time taken to discuss your plans and feel important. If your stylist is rushing or too busy to chat try another salon.

Last but not least follow through. If you pay for this amazing new colour or these fantastic new hair extensions, follow your stylist directions in caring for your new hair. Buy the shampoo and treatment, or but the styling products to style it a home, there is no secret product that stylist use that you cant buy, its all on the shelf.
